Description: I know sourdough seems daunting but let me show you that is totally achievable, even for beginner bakers! I'll show you how to create a sourdough starter from scratch the easy way. And i'll also show you how to maintain your starter, feed you starter and trouble shoot your starter. There are so many health benefits to sourdough and the flavor is incredible. If you are wanting to live more simply, sourdough is great place to start. Let me show you how. Supplies - a.co/cWC0CZG Cooler Months Recipe - Day 1 - stir together 50 g water + 50 g flour. Cover and let sit 24 hours Day 2 - Do nothing. Let sit another 24 hours Day 3 - Take out 40 g starter and put into a clean jar. Add 50 g water + 50 g flour. Let sit 24 hours Day 4 - repeat Day 3 Day 5 - repeat Day 3 Day 6 - repeat Day 3 Day 7 - repeat Day 3 You may need to continue this for several more days. If by day 7, it’s still not rising, try putting in oven with light on for 2 hours. Then wrap in a towel and put under microwave light. Warm Months Recipe - Day 1 - stir together 50 g water + 50 g flour. Cover and let sit 24 hours Day 2 - Do nothing. Let sit another 24 hours Day 3 - Take out 20 g starter and put into a clean jar. Add 50 g water + 50 g flour. Let sit 24 hours Day 4 - repeat Day 3 Day 5 - repeat Day 3 Day 6 - Start feeding 2x a day (am + pm) and only take out 10 g of starter instead of 20 g Day 7 - Repeat Day 6 til your starter doubles in size You’ll know your starter is ready for baking when it more than doubles in size. To know if its strong enough, when it’s reached its peak but before it falls again, put a bit in water. If it floats, its ready. Trouble shooting - My starter is runny and/or gets liquid on top - its hungry. Don’t feed it more often, feed it more flour. I tend to see this issue more when using measuring cups because everyone packs flour differently. I recommend a scale for this reason! I’ve been following the steps for longer than 7 days and nothing is happening - 1. Determine if you’re in a warm time of year or cool. Use the appropriate recipe for your weather. 2. Are you using unbleached flour? 3. Are you using filtered water? My starter won’t float - When are you attempting the float test? You should do it when your starter has more than doubled in size but before it goes back down. Your starter will have a dome on top when it’s still rising and will flatten or become concave when it’s going back down. Often I see people trying to do the float test too early or too late or before their starter is fully developed. An active ready starter will likely triple in size at its peak. ___________________________________ || P O P U L A R L I N K S || Amazon Storefront - amazon.com/shop/simplyallie Follow me on Like.to.know.it for links: allie_gooch ____________________________________ || FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM! || Allie's Instagram - instagram.com/allie_gooch Wellness and Oils Instagram - @simplyessentials_allie ____________________________________ || C O N T A C T + M A I L || For Business Inquiries or Collaborations, email: @allisoneligooch@gmail.com #sourdough #sourdoughstarter #foodfromscratch
